Brighton had a solid chance to qualify for European competition for much of the season, but after five consecutive matches without a win, it’s now only a theoretical possibility. However, there is still a chance that eighth place could lead to European football, and as long as that’s on the table, Brighton will chase it – but they need three points from this match.
No progress yet for West Ham
West Ham have arguably gotten worse since appointing Graham Potter. Most recently, they disappointed with just a draw against Southampton. But now that they’re completely clear of relegation and can play freely, their matches have featured more goals. In each of their last three games, both teams have scored, and it suits them well that Brighton are likely to take the initiative.
That allows the visitors to play on the counterattack, where they’re very dangerous. The matchup suggests goals as well. One downside to the bet is that Brighton’s top scorer, Joao Pedro, is suspended following his red card against Brentford. But Brighton still have solid attacking options, and defensively, they’re even more weakened with several regular starters out injured.
West Ham will have all their attacking stars available except Michail Antonio, and considering how both teams have been defending lately, it seems like a clear play to bet on both teams scoring in this match.
