The leaks surrounding Team of the Year in FC 26 continue to surface as we approach the promotional start on Friday. While we have already covered the lineup for the Women’s team, new information has emerged regarding a significant shift in the power curve, a unique Evolution event, and a list of upcoming Squad Building Challenges.
Three PlayStyle+ Traits Confirmed
The most significant gameplay news is the confirmation that Team of the Year cards will feature three PlayStyle+ traits. This information comes directly from loading screens and leaks that have now been verified.
This marks a massive jump in the power curve for FC 26. Until now, the community has been adjusting to cards with two PlayStyle+ traits, so the introduction of three will make these TOTY items feel truly endgame. This change mirrors the shift seen in previous titles where the Team of the Year promotion significantly accelerated the power level of the game. It remains to be seen if Evolutions will catch up to this standard quickly, but for now, the cards available in packs will likely be unrivaled in their performance.
New Midfielder Chain Evolution
In addition to the cards in packs, leaks have confirmed a new Team of the Year Chain Evolution specifically for midfielders. This event appears to be a callback to the popular center back Evolution from last year but with more flexibility.
The leak suggests that players will be able to choose between three distinct upgrade paths for their selected midfielder. You can reportedly mold your player into a Colossal CDM, a Powerhouse CM, or a Magician CAM. This level of customization allows you to address specific needs in your squad rather than being forced into a single upgrade template. While the exact rating requirements are not yet known, this is expected to be a major content piece during the promo.
Upcoming SBCs and Objectives
The content stream for Team of the Year is set to be extensive with several player SBCs and objectives leaked to accompany the main release.
Michael Olise (Honorable Mention) Michael Olise is expected to receive an Honorable Mention SBC. Given his profile, this could be a top tier winger option, potentially similar to the popular Phil Foden SBC from last year. If he receives two PlayStyle+ traits, specifically Finesse Shot, he could be a premium addition to many squads.
Jeremie Frimpong (Flashback) A Flashback Jeremie Frimpong is also leaked to arrive. This card will likely celebrate his previous Team of the Year item. Depending on the price and defensive upgrades, this could solidify him as one of the best attacking right backs in the game.
Gabriel (Honorable Mention) Defensively, Arsenal’s Gabriel is leaked to receive an Honorable Mention SBC. This card is expected to feature the Bruiser PlayStyle and could be a very strong physical presence in the backline.
Cucurella (Objective) For those looking for free content to grind, leaks point to a Cucurella card arriving via Objectives. This gives players a gameplay focused reward to work towards while playing through the Team of the Year schedule.
With the attackers set to enter packs this Friday, these SBCs and objectives will provide plenty of options for players to utilize their saved fodder and craft upgrades for their teams.
