Ampadu SBC: cost and requirements

Unlike most of Ultimate Scream, this one has got cheaper. The fall in 84-rated fodder this week has taken about 5,000 coins off the bill since Tuesday night, and he now costs less than Martín Ojeda (about 25,000) and well under Lea Schüller (about 36,000).

The good

He covers ground and wins it back. 90 stamina means he lasts the full game, and 86 strength, 86 interceptions and 84 standing tackle make him hard to play through. At 183 cm with 87 jumping and Aerial Fortress, he also clears the set pieces and long balls that beat smaller midfielders.

On the ball he is tidy, too. 90 short passing, 87 long passing and a 4★ weak foot, with Incisive Pass and Long Ball, let him switch play or pick a through ball from deep. 88 reactions and 86 composure with Press Proven help him keep the ball when he is closed down.

The bad

He is not quick. 80 acceleration and 81 sprint speed on a Controlled AcceleRATE mean fast attackers can run past him, so he needs a partner with legs. 78 agility and 76 balance make turns slow, and 3★ skills limit what he can do in tight spaces.

There is also no defensive PlayStyle such as Intercept or Anticipate, so he relies on his raw numbers to read the play.

What the community thinks

These are some of the best numbers of any Ultimate Scream SBC. Jonny, by comparison, sits below 15% on price. Players like that Ampadu does the dull work well for the cost of a few 84s. Most of them give him a Shadow chemistry style, which lifts his defending and pace.

Our verdict: do him if you need a holding midfielder

Do Ampadu if you play the Premier League or Wales and want a CDM who defends, wins headers and still passes well. At about 23,000 coins he is the best-value player SBC on the board, and the price is going the right way.

Play him at CDM next to a quicker CM, with a Shadow chemistry style. If your midfield already has a strong, slow anchor, he adds little, and the coins can wait for the next promo.
