To do a finesse shot in FC 27, hold R1 on PlayStation or RB on Xbox and press shoot (Circle or B). Your player side foots the ball with curl, which is the best way to bend it into the far corner from the edge of the box.
| Shot | PlayStation | Xbox / PC controller |
|---|---|---|
| Finesse shot | Hold R1 + press ○ | Hold RB + press B |
| Low driven finesse | Hold R1, press ○, then tap ○ again | Hold RB, press B, then tap B again |
| Power shot (for comparison) | Hold L1 + R1 + press ○ | Hold LB + RB + press B |
On PC with a controller, use the Xbox inputs. On keyboard and mouse the keys can be remapped, so check Settings, Controls for your finesse key before you head into a match.
How to do a finesse shot in FC 27
- Get the ball just inside or around the edge of the box, ideally cutting in from the side.
- Open your body if you can: a right footer cutting in from the left, or a left footer from the right, gets the most natural curl.
- Aim with the left stick at the far post. Finesse shots bend back towards goal, so aim at the corner, not wide of it.
- Hold R1 / RB, then press shoot (○ / B) and fill around a third to half of the power bar.
- Your player side foots the ball. If it flies over, you used too much power.
Want it lower? Add the second tap of shoot before contact for a low driven finesse. It keeps the curl but skims the grass, which is great when the keeper is set and standing tall.
When to use it
- Cutting inside from the wing towards the far post.
- From the edge of the box when there is a gap between the keeper and the far post.
- One on ones where the keeper comes out, to bend it around the keeper.
- With players who have high Curve and Finishing, or the Finesse Shot PlayStyle.
Common mistakes
- Too much power. Finesse shots go over quickly. Half a bar is the upper limit in most spots.
- Shooting from too far out. From long range a finesse shot is slow and easy to save. Use a power shot instead.
- Aiming wide. The curl brings the ball back in, so aim inside the far post.
- Weak foot finesse. Take a touch onto the stronger foot when you have time.
- Closed body angle. Shooting across your body with the wrong foot loses most of the curl.
What changed in FC 27
The input is the same as in FC 26, but the shot itself depends more on who takes it. In the FC 27 Gameplay Deep Dive, EA says it updated Finesse Shot so player attributes play a bigger role, and that spin, animation speed and off-angle effectiveness now scale with the player taking the shot.
- The gap between a player with no PlayStyle, Finesse Shot and
Finesse Shot+ is smaller than before. - Finesse Shot and
Finesse Shot+ still add an accuracy boost. - Curve, Finishing and Weak Foot matter more, so a high Curve striker on their strong foot is the ideal finesse taker.
- From tight angles, average finishers miss more often. Inside the box, a low driven shot is often the safer choice.

FC 27 finesse shot: FAQ
What is a finesse shot in FC 27?
A finesse shot is a placed, curling shot hit with the side of the foot. It trades power for accuracy and bend, so it is best for curling the ball into the far corner from around the edge of the box.
How do you do a low driven finesse shot in FC 27?
Hold R1 on PlayStation or RB on Xbox, press shoot and then tap shoot again before your player hits the ball. You get the curl of a finesse shot, but the ball stays low.
Do you need the Finesse Shot PlayStyle?
No. Every player can do a finesse shot. In FC 27 the result depends more on the player’s own attributes, and the Finesse Shot and
Finesse Shot+ PlayStyles add extra accuracy, curve and a quicker shooting motion on top.
