To do a power shot in FC 27, hold L1 and R1 on PlayStation (LB and RB on Xbox) and press shoot (Circle or B). Your player winds up and smashes the ball, but you aim it yourself with the left stick, so it is a high risk, high reward shot from outside the box.

On PC with a controller, use the Xbox inputs. On keyboard and mouse the keys can be remapped, so check Settings, Controls for your power shot keys before kick off.
How to do a power shot in FC 27
- Make space first. The wind up is slower than a normal shot, so you need a yard or two between you and the nearest defender.
- Get to the edge of the box or just outside it, with the ball on your stronger foot.
- Hold L1 + R1 (LB + RB) and press shoot. Fill around two and a half bars of power from the edge of the box, closer to three from further out.
- Aim with the left stick at the corner you want. The power shot is aimed manually, so point the stick at the spot, not just the general direction.
- Keep the stick still while your player winds up. Big late swings send the ball wide.
Want it to stay down? Tap shoot a second time after setting the power for a low driven power shot. It flies hard and low, which is useful when the keeper is set and there are bodies in front of goal.
When to use it
- From 20 to 30 yards when the defence drops off and gives you a clear sight of goal.
- When the keeper is off centre or slow to react to the far side.
- After a quick lay off or fake shot that buys you a split second of space.
- With players who have high Shot Power, Long Shots and Finishing, or the Power Shot PlayStyle.
Common mistakes
- Shooting with a defender close. The wind up is easy to read and easy to block. If someone is closing in, pass or use a normal shot.
- Using it inside the box. Close to goal a low driven or finesse shot is quicker and more reliable.
- Too much power. A full bar usually flies over. Stop around two and a half to three bars.
- Lazy aiming. There is no auto aim to save you. Aim at the corner and hold it.
- Wrong player. A defender with low Shot Power will not score these. Pick your best long range shooter.
What changed in FC 27
The input is the same as in FC 26. In the FC 27 Gameplay Deep Dive, EA does not list a direct change to power shots. The main shooting change is that player attributes matter more: EA says low driven shots lost their speed boost, so shot velocity now depends on the shooter’s attributes and the power you put in.

Power Shot+ goes further, so these players are worth picking for long range goals. - The low driven power shot is still in, but its pace now comes from the shooter, not a hidden boost.
