We have taken a look at the action from the weekend and have selected 23 players from the top leagues, that could be candidates to be featured on EA’s TOTW. We are aware, that multiple players from the same team rarely get chosen, so we expect one of the players from each team to actually make the cut.
Team of the Week (March 15–16, 2025)
Goalkeepers
- Bernd Leno (Fulham) – Kept a clean sheet in Fulham’s 2–0 win over Spurs. Leno wasn’t heavily tested but made a crucial late save (stopping Dominic Solanke’s stoppage-time shot) to preserve the shutout. His solid outing ensured Fulham’s back-to-back league wins.
- Brice Samba (Lens) – Recorded a clean sheet as RC Lens edged Stade Rennais 1–0 at home. Samba’s command of the box and timely interventions helped Lens withstand Rennes’ pressure, extending Lens’s win streak after beating Marseille last week.
Defenders
- Nikola Milenković (Nottingham Forest) – The Serbian center-back starred in Forest’s 4–2 victory at Ipswich. Milenković headed in the opener and later provided an assist (a headed knock-down) for Anthony Elanga’s second goal. He was a threat on set-pieces and strong defensively in an important away win.
- Juan Miranda (Bologna) – Bologna’s left-back delivered two assists in a 5–0 thrashing of Lazio. Miranda’s pinpoint cross from a corner set up Jens Odgaard’s header, and he later squared a pass for Giovanni Fabbian to score. His overlapping runs and service from the flank were instrumental in Bologna’s rout.
- Marcos Alonso (Celta Vigo) – Provided veteran leadership and the winning goal as Celta beat Real Valladolid 1–0. Alonso converted an 83rd-minute penalty and helped secure a clean sheet. The Spaniard’s composed defensive work and decisive spot-kick earned Celta a vital three points.
- Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen) – The attacking right-back was lively in Leverkusen’s wild 4–3 comeback win at Stuttgart. Frimpong sparked the fightback by scoring with a near-post run and finish in the 56th minute. His pace and width troubled Stuttgart’s defense, and he contributed defensively with key recoveries.
- Aniek Nouwen (Crystal Palace Women) – The Dutch defender scored the breakthrough goal for Palace in a 3–1 Women’s Super League win over Aston Villa. Nouwen headed home a corner at 33′ to put her side ahead. She was solid at the back and added a goal against a Villa side featuring several attacking threats.
Midfielders
- Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) – Delivered a masterclass in creativity during United’s 3–0 win at Leicester. Fernandes scored once and assisted two other goals. He set up Rasmus Højlund’s opener with a precise through-ball and flicked on for Alejandro Garnacho’s strike, before curling in a 90th-minute goal himself. Bruno’s all-action display drove United’s comfortable victory.
- Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (Wolves) – The French midfielder’s playmaking was key in Wolves’ 2–1 win at Southampton. Bellegarde notched assists on both goals by JørgenStrand Larsen, twice slipping passes in behind for the striker. He dominated midfield duels and provided the cutting edge in attack to help Wolves pull away from the relegation zone.
- Dan Ndoye (Bologna) – Turned in a dynamic performance in Bologna’s big win over Lazio. Ndoye scored one goal (a close-range finish in the 49th minute) and provided an assist just a minute earlier – teeing up Riccardo Orsolini with a low cross. The Swiss winger’s speed and end product tore Lazio’s defense apart in a man-of-the-match showing.
- Nicolò Fagioli (Fiorentina) – Influential in Fiorentina’s 3–0 upset of Juventus. The young Italian midfielder registered two assists, setting up Rolando Mandragora’s early strike and providing the final pass for Albert Guðmundsson’s goal.. Fagioli’s vision and passing between the lines consistently unlocked Juve’s back line, helping Viola hand Juventus a heavy defeat.
- Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig) – Continued his sparkling form in Leipzig’s 2–0 victory over Borussia Dortmund. Simons opened the scoring with a driven shot in the 18th minute and was a creative force throughout. The 21-year-old Dutchman’s dribbling and link-up play constantly unsettled Dortmund; he also put in a tireless shift defensively as Leipzig snapped a four-match winless streak.
- Ashleigh Weerden (Crystal Palace Women) – The Dutch winger was a standout in Palace’s 3–1 WSL win over Aston Villa. Weerden doubled Palace’s lead with a goal at 53′, curling a shot past the keeper. She was a menace on the left flank, delivering dangerous crosses (one leading to Nouwen’s opener) and tracking back diligently. Her contribution helped newly-promoted Palace earn a notable victory.
- Fran Kirby (Brighton Women) – The England international made an instant impact for Brighton, scoring the only goal in a 1–0 win at Tottenham Hotspur. Kirby struck in the 42nd minute, a clinical finish that proved decisive in a tight match. The veteran forward’s creativity and experience helped Brighton control possession and secure a rare clean-sheet victory away to Spurs.
- Angel Gomes (Lille) – Decisive in Lille’s 1–0 triumph at Nantes. Gomes scored the match-winning goal, finishing off a move just before halftime to put Lille ahead. Earlier, he forced an excellent save from the Nantes keeper with a long-range effort. The ex-Man United youngster’s attacking impetus and goal ensured Lille rebounded from their midweek European exit with a league win.
Attackers
- Anthony Elanga (Nottingham Forest) – The Swedish winger put in a brace to lead Forest past Ipswich 4–2. Elanga struck twice in a five-minute span (37′ and 41′), both times timing his runs to finish moves set up by teammates (the second assisted by Milenković). He constantly stretched Ipswich’s defense with his pace, and his two-goal performance was pivotal as Forest climbed to third in the Premier League.
- Jørgen Strand Larsen (Wolves) – Scored both goals in Wolves’ 2–1 win over Southampton. The Norwegian forward netted a first-half header (19′) and doubled the lead with a close-range finish right after the break (47′). Strand Larsen’s brace – his first goals in Wolves colors – earned a vital away win. He showed great chemistry with Bellegarde, who assisted both of his goals.
- Alassane Pléa (Borussia M’gladbach) – The weekend’s top performer with a hat-trick and an assist in Gladbach’s 4–2 victory at Werder Bremen. Pléa scored three goals (including a 7′ penalty) and set up the fourth, directly contributing to all four of Gladbach’s goals. He was simply unplayable – drifting into space to finish twice from open play and creating chances (9.8 SofaScore rating). Pléa’s heroics snapped Gladbach’s two-game skid in style.
- Ferran Torres (Barcelona) – Rose to the occasion in Barcelona’s 4–2 comeback win at Atlético Madrid. Torres scored two goals to spark the fightback. He leveled the match with a volley and later added another to put Barça ahead. His movement and finishing were sharp, and he consistently found gaps in Atlético’s defense. Ferran’s brace was crucial as Barcelona pulled off a late win to keep pressure on Real Madrid at the top.
- Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid) – Delivered when it mattered, scoring both goals in Real Madrid’s 2–1 away win over Villarreal. With Madrid trailing 0–1, Mbappé took over in the first half – equalizing in the 17th minute and scoring again by the 23rd. He showed his trademark pace and clinical touch to complete the quick turnaround. Mbappé’s match-winning brace moved Real Madrid back atop LaLiga, underlining his superstar impact after his high-profile transfer.
- Ousmane Dembélé (Paris Saint-Germain) – Scored in PSG’s 3–1 Le Classique win over Marseille, reaching a Ligue 1 milestone. Dembélé struck in the second half of France’s biggest rivalry clash, notching his 21st league goal of the season. He terrorized Marseille’s defense with his dribbling and link-up play. With Neymar gone and Mbappé in Spain, Dembélé has emerged as PSG’s talisman – his goal and all-around display helped PSG go 19 points clear in first place.
- Patrik Schick (Bayer Leverkusen) – Came up clutch with a last-gasp winner in Leverkusen’s 4–3 thriller over Stuttgart. Schick scored in the 94th minute, steering in a low finish to complete Leverkusen’s comeback from 1–3 down. The Czech striker was a handful for defenders after coming on; he nearly scored earlier, and finally delivered by burying the decisive chance in stoppage time. Schick’s late heroics keep Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title hunt.
- Rodrigo Muniz (Fulham) – Super-sub who broke the deadlock in Fulham’s victory over Spurs. Muniz entered in the 76′ and scored just two minutes later (78′) with a sharp header, putting Fulham up 1–0 . The young Brazilian forward’s energy changed the game – he pressed Tottenham’s back line and found space to score from Tom Cairney’s cross. Muniz’s impact off the bench set the stage for Fulham’s win, boosting their bid for European qualification.
