The Griddy has become one of the most recognizable and talked-about celebrations in football games. From its viral rise in 2018 to its inclusion in EA’s football series, the dance is loved, hated, and instantly recognizable. Many players have been asking the same question since the release of EA Sports FC 26: can you still do the Griddy? The answer depends entirely on what you did last year.
The Griddy Is Only for Returning Players
In FC 26, the Griddy celebration is no longer available to unlock, buy, or redeem. The only players who can use it are those who completed the Griddy to Glory objective in FC 25. EA confirmed that this one-time reward carried over into FC 26 for eligible accounts, but the event itself has expired.
This means new players, or anyone who missed the objective last year, have no way to access it. The challenge cannot be redone in FC 25, and EA has not added any new path to unlock it in FC 26.
In other words, if your account did not finish the Griddy to Glory challenge in FC 25, the Griddy celebration is locked for good.
How the Griddy Was Originally Unlocked
The Griddy made its FC debut in EA Sports FC 25 as part of a special limited-time event. Players could earn the animation permanently by completing the Griddy to Glory objective set, which involved a few Ultimate Team tasks:
- Win three matches in the Griddy to Glory Cup, or play six total matches in the mode
- Complete the Daily Play objective five times to finish the challenge
Once these were done, the celebration was added to your account as a transferable reward. EA carried it forward into FC 26, but there has been no second chance for players who missed out.
How to Do the Griddy Celebration in FC 26
If you unlocked it in FC 25, here is how to perform the Griddy in EA Sports FC 26:
- Open Ultimate Team and head to Club.
- Go to Stadium, then Club Customization.
- Scroll down to Player Celebration.
- Choose Griddy from your list of unlocked celebrations.
- During a match, after scoring, press Circle on PlayStation, B on Xbox, or your assigned keybind on PC.
Your player will immediately begin the signature dance: swinging their arms, tapping their heels, and finishing with the signature goggles gesture. It works across modes, including Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Kick-Off, as long as you have it equipped.
Why EA Removed the Griddy for New Players
EA has not given a clear reason why the Griddy was locked behind a one-time event, but the likely explanation is its reputation. The dance became infamous for being a “toxic” celebration used to taunt opponents online. By keeping it exclusive to returning players, EA may have wanted to limit its presence in FC 26 matches.
There is also a chance EA will bring it back later through another promotion or store item, though nothing has been confirmed. For now, it remains one of the few truly exclusive cosmetics in FC 26.
