Kylian Mbappé looks set to receive yet another Player of the Month (POTM) card in FC 26 Ultimate Team, with a 92-rated version leaked ahead of its expected release later today. The Real Madrid superstar’s new item brings small overall boosts but a key playstyle change that has already divided the FUT community.
Small upgrade, big question mark
Compared to his previous 91-rated POTM card, this new version features only +1 increases to Pace, Dribbling, and Physical, while maintaining the same shooting and passing stats. On paper, it’s hardly a massive leap, but the real talking point lies elsewhere.
Power Shot+ replaces Rapid+
Mbappé’s PlayStyle+ has changed from
Rapid+ to Power Shot+, a swap that many FUT players are questioning. While Rapid+ is among the most popular and meta-relevant playstyles for attackers this year, Power Shot+ is seen as more situational and harder to utilize effectively, especially in competitive play.
Community reactions so far have been mixed, with many players on social media calling the change “a downgrade disguised as an upgrade.” Others note that while Power Shot+ can be lethal in the right hands, it doesn’t suit Mbappé’s usual quick, agile playstyle that thrives in short bursts of acceleration.
Release time and expectations
The 92-rated POTM Mbappé SBC is expected to drop at 18:00 CET tonight, replacing last month’s 91-rated version, which expires at the same time. While the exact SBC requirements are still unknown, it’s likely to come with a steep price tag, just like his previous release.
For many FUT fans, the decision will come down to one question: is a +1 upgrade and a less desirable PlayStyle+ worth potentially over two million coins in fodder?
➡️ Verdict: Unless you’re a die-hard Mbappé collector or a Real Madrid fan, this new POTM card might not offer enough to justify the cost.
