Reports indicate that players will receive specific position based picks to build out their squads. These include a choice of three attackers from a pool of 27 nominees a choice of three midfielders from 35 nominees and a choice of four defenders from 20 nominees. Unlike standard loans that expire after a certain number of matches these cards are expected to be live for seven days giving users an entire week to compete with some of the best items in the game.

The prospect of every Ultimate Team player receiving two full squads worth of elite talent has sent the transfer market into a downward spiral. The logic driving this crash is straightforward. If you can use a high rated Kylian Mbappé or Lamine Yamal for free during the upcoming Weekend League there is little incentive to hold onto their expensive gold or special versions.
We are already seeing the effects with top tier cards like Mbappé dropping significantly in value as panic selling sets in. Traders and casual players are liquidating their assets to avoid losing coins which has created a buyer’s market for those brave enough to invest. The fear is that these loan cards will completely kill the demand for standard meta cards for the duration of the week.

The single biggest factor that will determine the severity of this market crash is the power curve of these Nominee cards. It remains unclear if these items will simply match the stats of their base gold versions or if they will receive a boost.
Veterans of the franchise might recall FIFA 20 where Nominee cards received a simple +1 upgrade over their base stats. If FC 26 follows this trend and offers a 92 rated Mbappé or a boosted Alexia Putellas for free the market for base cards could collapse entirely. However if the stats remain identical to the gold versions there may be a slight rebound for special cards that offer better playstyles or chemistry links.
