FC 27 stuttering, freezing or feeling like slow motion on PC? You’re not alone, and in most cases you can fix it yourself. Below are EA’s own six troubleshooting steps, the best graphics settings for a smooth 60 FPS, the RAM problem that catches a lot of players out, and the official FC 27 PC system requirements.
FC 27 stuttering on PC: is it your PC or the servers?
First, check whether the problem is your PC or your connection. EA lists three signs of a PC performance problem:
- Delayed inputs, even offline or with low ping.
- Slow-motion gameplay, even when your average FPS looks fine.
- Regular stutters or sudden frametime spikes.
Play a match offline, for example in Squad Battles or Kick-Off. If it stutters there too, it’s your PC, and the steps below will help. If it’s only online, the cause is more likely your connection or EA’s servers. Check our FC 27 server status page first.
How to fix FC 27 stuttering: EA’s six steps
EA recommends going through these steps in order and testing a match after each change:
- Lower your frame rate cap. Go from 60 FPS to 30 FPS as a test. If the stutter disappears, your PC can’t hold 60 steadily, and you can lower your graphics instead (step 2) to get back to 60.
- Lower your graphics settings and resolution. Start with the preset, then the heaviest single settings (see the table below).
- Close background apps. Browsers, Discord and other overlays, recording tools and extra launchers all take CPU, GPU or memory.
- Check that your RAM runs in dual channel. This is the most overlooked fix. More on it below.
- Update your GPU driver from NVIDIA, AMD or Intel.
- Check your power settings. Set Windows to Best performance, put laptops in performance mode and plugged in, and make sure your GPU control panel isn’t limiting power.
A tip from the EA forums: several players found that a frame cap set outside the game (in the NVIDIA or AMD control panel), with in-game V-Sync turned off, works better than the in-game cap alone. It’s worth testing if steps 1–2 don’t fully fix it.
Best FC 27 PC graphics settings
These settings give the biggest FPS gain for the smallest visual loss. Start here and turn things back up one at a time if your PC has room to spare.
| Setting | Recommended | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Graphics preset | Balanced (Performance on older PCs) | A stable base to tweak from |
| Display mode | Fullscreen | Fewer frame drops than windowed |
| Frame rate cap | 60 FPS (30 FPS to test) | A steady 60 feels better than 90 that jumps around |
| V-Sync | Off | Can add input lag; use G-Sync/FreeSync instead |
| Dynamic resolution | Off | Turn on only if you get big drops in busy scenes |
| Rendering quality | Medium | The heaviest single setting |
| Strand-based hair | Off | Costs a lot of GPU for little visual gain |
| Crowd quality | Low | Barely visible during play |
| Grass quality | Low | Small difference with the standard camera |
| Cloth physics | Low or Off | Saves CPU in busy scenes |
| Motion blur | Off | Clearer picture, slightly more FPS |
| Cutscene quality | Lower than gameplay | Saves performance where it doesn’t affect play |
Use the VRAM indicator in the graphics menu. If the bar is near the maximum for your graphics card, you’ll get stutters no matter how fast your GPU is. Lower textures and rendering quality until you’re comfortably under.
For online play, steady frametimes matter far more than extra grass or crowd detail, so spend your performance budget on a locked 60 FPS first.
Dual-channel RAM: the hidden cause of FC 27 stutter
EA now lists dual-channel RAM in the FC 27 system requirements, even for the minimum spec. Many prebuilt PCs and laptops come with a single RAM stick, which runs in single channel and gives less memory bandwidth. According to EA, that can cause poor performance and stuttering in FC 27.
How to check:
- Open Task Manager → Performance → Memory. “Slots used: 1 of 2” usually means single channel.
- A hardware info tool like CPU-Z shows “Channel #: Dual” or “Single” on the Memory tab.
- With two sticks, check your motherboard manual that they’re in the right slots (often slot 2 and 4).
If you only have one stick, adding a second matching stick is often the cheapest real FPS upgrade you can make for FC 27. Check which RAM your PC or motherboard supports before you buy.
FC 27 PC system requirements
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10/11 64-bit | Windows 10/11 64-bit |
| CPU (AMD) | Ryzen 5 1600 | Ryzen 7 2700X |
| CPU (Intel) | Core i5-6600K | Core i7-6700 |
| RAM | 8 GB DDR4, dual channel | 12 GB, dual channel |
| GPU (AMD) | RX 570 | RX 5600 XT |
| GPU (NVIDIA) | GTX 1050 Ti | GTX 1660 |
| DirectX | 12 | 12 |
| Storage | 100 GB | 100 GB SSD |
| Connection | 512 kbps | 512 kbps |
The specs are the same as FC 26, apart from the dual-channel note. Install the game on an SSD if you can, because a hard drive causes stutter when stadiums and menus load.
Still stuttering? More FC 27 PC fixes
- Repair the game files in the EA app or Steam (Library → FC 27 → Repair / Verify integrity).
- Restart after driver updates. The first match after a new driver or game update can stutter while shaders are rebuilt. Give it a full match before you judge.
- Use a wired controller. Some players report frame drops with Bluetooth controllers during fast inputs. A cable is an easy test.
- Turn off overlays from Discord, Steam, NVIDIA, AMD and MSI Afterburner one at a time.
If nothing works, report it on the EA Forums with your specs. EA’s issue tracker has no known FC 27 PC stutter issue listed as of 17 October.
FC 27 PC settings and stutter: FAQ
Why does FC 27 stutter on a good PC?
Usually because of an unstable frame rate, single-channel RAM, a full VRAM buffer or background apps. Cap the game at 60 FPS, turn off V-Sync and strand-based hair, check your RAM runs in dual channel and close overlays. EA’s own guide lists the same steps.
What are the best FC 27 settings for FPS on PC?
Balanced preset, fullscreen, 60 FPS cap, V-Sync off, medium rendering quality, strand-based hair off, and low crowd and grass quality. Turn settings back up one at a time if you have FPS to spare.
What are the minimum PC requirements for FC 27?
A Ryzen 5 1600 or Core i5-6600K, 8 GB of dual-channel DDR4 RAM, an RX 570 or GTX 1050 Ti, DirectX 12 and 100 GB of storage. EA recommends a Ryzen 7 2700X or Core i7-6700, 12 GB RAM, an RX 5600 XT or GTX 1660 and an SSD.
