Updated: 22 October 2026.
The latest FC 27 update is Live Update #1, released on 15 October. It fixed the deep free kick exploit, and you only need to restart the game to get it. The latest full Title Update is v1.0.4 from 7 October, a bug fix patch with no gameplay tuning. Of the four Title Updates so far, only v1.0.1 had any gameplay tuning. Competitive gameplay is still the launch build.
What is the latest FC 27 update?
Live Update #1 does one thing: it closes an exploit where players could score from deep free kicks in specific circumstances. EA first listed the exploit as under investigation on 13 October and posted the fix on its tracker less than two days later. The full story is in our free kick exploit fixed article.
There is one more change today. EA said it would reset Attribute Points for Archetypes in The Grounds in an update deployed by Thursday 22 October, 02:00 Pacific time (09:00 UTC · 10:00 UK · 11:00 CEST). More on that below.

Dates for v1.0.1 and v1.0.2 are when EA posted the notes on its official tracker. Neither got a separate article on ea.com. All four Title Updates are labelled “Small Bug Fix Update” by EA.
FC 27 Title Update v1.0.4: full patch notes
v1.0.4 is the newest full Title Update. EA is clear about one thing: “There are no gameplay balance and tuning changes in this update.” Here is everything else it changed.
- Ultimate Team: fixed a Service Unavailable error that could appear after finishing a match in FUT modes.
- Ultimate Team: base items no longer show holographic visuals when opened from certain Player Picks.
- Gameplay: no changes.
- Career Mode: fewer High OVR and High Potential players are generated in Manager Career.
- Career Mode: bidding far above a club’s asking price now triggers a response instead of an instant acceptance.
- Career Mode: fixed being unable to sign Free Agents outside a transfer window or with the transfer market disabled, CPU counteroffers above their own demanded fee, a stability issue with some teams in Live Start Points, and the Liga MX season restarting in May instead of mid-January.
- The Grounds and Clubs: fixed a loading screen that needed a restart when viewing your active club from the Player Profile, and some wrong post-match screens.
- General: some Player Indicator colours updated (PS5 only), random teams fixed in FC Lite Kick-Off, plus stability fixes.
If you mainly play Ultimate Team, the Service Unavailable fix is the one that matters. Career Mode players got the biggest batch, which follows the transfer request complaints EA covered in its Launch Feedback Update.
The Grounds Archetypes update is separate from v1.0.4. EA has raised and lowered Attribute Point costs for all 13 Archetypes and removed Attacking Positioning as a requirement for Archetype Specializations. If you already created a Pro, your AP is reset and you have to spend it again. Your level and total AP stay the same, and you get 5,000 Club Coins and a 1.75x AXP Multiplier for 6 matches as compensation.
FC 27 Live Updates vs Title Updates: what is the difference?
- Title Update: a numbered patch (v1.0.1, v1.0.2 and so on) that you download through PlayStation, Xbox, the EA app, Steam, Epic or Nintendo. It can change anything in the game, from menus and Career Mode logic to gameplay.
- Live Update: a smaller change EA pushes without a full Title Update. In EA’s words, it lets the team “make tuning changes faster and with more frequency”. You do not download anything. You close and relaunch FC 27 when the in-game message appears.
- Server fixes: some fixes happen entirely on EA’s side, like the FUT Champions matchmaking fix on 9 October. You do nothing at all.
This matters for gameplay. In earlier games, tuning changes such as defending or shooting nerfs usually arrived inside a Title Update. In FC 27, a Live Update can change how the game plays overnight, so a restart after a Live Update message is worth doing before a Rivals or Champions session.
What is EA monitoring in FC 27?
EA’s Gameplay Developer Launch Update (30 September) and Launch Feedback Update (13 October) list the gameplay topics it is watching. EA stresses that being on the list does not mean a change is coming. The bugs come from the Investigating column on EA’s tracker as of today.

The custom tactics bug is the one to watch in competitive modes. Check your tactics after saving until EA marks it fixed. On manual defending, EA’s view is that it is a learning curve: players who have adapted “are finding more success”, and no change is announced.
How to update FC 27 on PS5, Xbox, PC and Switch 2
Title Updates download automatically on every platform if automatic updates are on and your console or PC is online. If you are not sure you have the latest version, do this:
- PS5: highlight FC 27 on the home screen, press Options and choose Check for Update.
- Xbox Series X|S: go to My games & apps, press Menu on FC 27, choose Manage game and add-ons, then Updates.
- PC: the EA app, Steam and Epic update the game when you launch the launcher. If a download is waiting, the Play button changes to Update.
- Nintendo Switch 2: press + or – on the FC 27 icon, then Software Update and Via the Internet.
- Live Updates: no download. Close FC 27 fully and start it again when the in-game message appears.

FC 27 gameplay verdict: is the game in a good place?
Four weeks after launch, competitive gameplay is basically the build you got on day one. Every Title Update so far has been a bug fix patch, and the only tuning change, the faster jockey in v1.0.1, only applies to Authentic Gameplay in Career Mode and Kick Off. That is deliberate. EA’s gameplay team said it won’t rush changes and has heard the feedback about the game changing too early in the year.
We think that is mostly the right call. Manual defending is harder, but it rewards players who learn it, and a game that stays the same lets you actually get good at it. The risk is the list of known problems. Fullbacks dropping deep is a real issue that costs goals in Rivals, and it has been “monitoring” since 30 September. The fast free kick fix shows Live Updates can work. Our guess: the first real tuning change will come as a Live Update, not a Title Update, and fullback positioning is the most likely candidate. EA has not confirmed that.
