To do a trivela in FC 27, hold L2 on PlayStation (LT on Xbox) and press shoot (Circle or B). Your player strikes the ball with the outside of the foot, so it swerves away from the keeper and is most dangerous when you aim at the far corner from an angle.

How to do a trivela in FC 27
- Pick the right angle. The trivela works best when you come in from the side of your stronger foot, so the outside of the boot faces the far post. A right footer cutting in from the left is the classic setup.
- Approach the box diagonally instead of running straight at the keeper. That gives the ball room to swerve back towards goal.
- Hold L2 (LT) and press shoot. Set the power like a normal shot: around two bars inside the box, a little more from the edge.
- Aim with the left stick at the far corner. The ball bends away from the keeper, so you can aim slightly inside the post.
- Keep the stick steady until the strike. A late flick of the stick sends it wide.
Do you need the Gamechanger PlayStyle?
The input works for every player. What changes is how accurate the shot is. In EA’s own PlayStyles list for FC 27, Gamechanger (a Finishing PlayStyle) says Fancy and Trivela shots are performed with improved accuracy, and Gamechanger+ says greatly improved accuracy.
- Without Gamechanger: you can still try it, but expect more misses, especially with low Curve and Finishing.
- With Gamechanger or Gamechanger+: these are the players to use it with. Check a player’s PlayStyles on the card before you practise.
- Trivela passes: the Passing PlayStyle Inventive does the same for Fancy and Trivela passes.
Guides online disagree on whether a true outside of the foot strike is locked behind Gamechanger. EA only describes it as an accuracy boost, so that is what we go by.
When to use it
- When you cut in at an angle and the far corner is open.
- When the keeper shades towards the near post.
- When your player is on the wrong side for a finesse shot with the inside of the foot.
- With players who have Gamechanger, high Curve and good Finishing or Long Shots.
Common mistakes
- Shooting straight on. From the middle of the box the swerve has nowhere to go. Use a low driven or finesse shot instead.
- A defender right in front. The trivela takes a moment to set up and is easy to block. Make a yard of space first.
- Too much power. Over three bars the ball rises and flies over. Keep it lower inside the box.
- Using it with anyone. Without Gamechanger and decent Curve the trivela is a lottery. Save it for the right player.
- Aiming at the near post. The ball curves away from the keeper. Aim far.
What changed in FC 27
The input is unchanged: it is still the flair shot on L2 (LT) + shoot. EA’s FC 27 Gameplay Deep Dive does not list a direct change to the trivela. The wider shooting change is that player attributes matter more, so the shooter’s stats and PlayStyles decide more of the outcome than before.
