Serie A Player of the Month Donyell Malen is the creators’ favourite of the September POTMs. The 85-rated Roma striker costs about 114,000 coins on fut.gg today, up from about 85,000 last night and about 70,000 at release. He is quick, sharp on the ball and a reliable finisher, but he only plays striker.

Malen SBC: cost and requirements
- Cost: about 114,000 coins on fut.gg’s cheapest route (Friday 23 October, 11:30 CEST). futbin has it at about 121,000.
- Item Score target: 90,000, in one Streamlined challenge
- Expires: around Thursday 29 October
- Repeatable: no, and the card is untradeable
- Released: Thursday 1 October
He was about 70,000 coins when creators reviewed him, and about 85,000 last night. Every big SBC jumped by about a third on Friday morning, because fodder climbs before a new promo. Wait until the weekend packs bring fodder back down.
Malen’s card: the good and the bad
- Positions: ST only
- Skills / weak foot: 4★ / 4★
- Height / AcceleRATE: 176 cm, Explosive
- PlayStyles: Low Driven Shot, Technical and Quick Step, plus
Chip Shot+
The good: 90 Acceleration with Quick Step and Explosive makes him very fast over the first few yards. 87 Finishing, 88 Attacking Position and 89 Agility with Technical give him everything a modern striker needs. A Hunter chemistry style pushes his pace into the 90s.
The bad: 75 passing and 63 Long Passing are weak. 68 Strength means he can be bumped off the ball, and he has no positions apart from ST. There is no Finesse Shot, so far post curlers are less reliable.
What the creators say
Viperlization played him at ST on a Hunter and says he prefers Malen to his Agüero. He calls the dribbling unreal and the finishing lights-out. His downsides are the passing, the missing Finesse Shot and the body. His verdict: “He is so worth it.”
Morsey scored plenty of goals with him as a lone striker. He says Malen glides with the left stick and is hard to dispossess. He calls the card crazy good fun, but notes that the gold Malen is close, because the POTM only adds a point or two.
InceptionFC likes him for counters and says he can do the meta things well. He finds the left stick dribbling weaker than on the small female cards, and suggests a Finisher if you play more build-up.
Futcard Review gives him 8.8 out of 10 and calls him a must complete at about 70,000 coins.
What the community thinks
| Site | Positive | Votes | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| fut.gg | 81% | 2,744 | ~114K |
| futbin | 36% | 1,781 | ~121K |
fut.gg voters like Malen a lot more than futbin voters. The fut.gg score is one of the highest of all live player SBCs.
Our verdict: worth it, but not at today’s price
Do Malen if you play Serie A or need a fast striker with Quick Step, but wait for the price to drop. Four creators played him, and all four came away happy. The only real catch is that he is a striker and nothing else.
At 114,000 coins he costs about 60% more than the price the creators were judging. He has six days left, so give the market a few days after Ultimate Scream lands before you buy fodder.
