This goal starts about 30 yards out. The shooter has space, the defenders are busy in the middle, and one power shot does the rest. On keyboard and mouse the keys can be remapped, so check Settings, Controls before kick off.
How to score from long range in FC 27
- Pick the right shooter. Long Shots and Shot Power decide how hard and how accurate the strike is. A central midfielder or winger with good shooting stats is ideal.
- Make space first. Shift the ball sideways, play a quick one two or use a fake shot. Every long shot needs a yard between you and the nearest defender.
- Choose the shot. Power shot for raw pace through the middle, trivela when you are wide and want curve to the far post, a normal shot when you have no time to wind up.
- Set the power. Stop around two and a half bars from 20 yards and close to three from 30 yards. A full bar usually flies over.
- Aim at a corner and hold the stick. The power shot has no auto aim, so point the left stick at the exact spot and keep it still while your player winds up.
When to use it
- When the defence drops deep and leaves the space in front of the box open.
- When the keeper is off his line or leaning to one side.
- Late in a match when you need a goal and the box is crowded.
- As a threat: a few shots from range force your opponent to step up, which opens space for through balls behind them.
Common mistakes
- Shooting with a defender close. The power shot wind up is easy to read and easy to block. If someone is closing in, pass instead.
- Using finesse from distance. In FC 27 the finesse shot depends more on the shooter’s attributes, and it works best from the edge of the box, not 30 yards out.
- Using a low driven shot from far out. It is a close range finish. From distance a power shot or a normal shot is better.
- The wrong player. A defender with low shooting stats will rarely score from range, PlayStyle or not.
- Forcing it. If a teammate is free in a better position, the pass is the higher percentage play.
Best players and PlayStyles for long shots
Any player can take a long shot, but a few things make a big difference:
- Attributes: Long Shots, Shot Power and Finishing. Look at these before you look at overall rating.
- Power Shot and Power Shot+: make the power shot quicker and harder. These players are the best long range options.
- Gamechanger: improves the accuracy of trivela and flair shots, so wide players with it are dangerous from the edge of the box.
What changed in FC 27
EA’s FC 27 Gameplay Deep Dive does not list a direct change to long shots, but two shooting changes affect them:
- Low driven shots lost their speed boost. Shot velocity now scales on the shooter’s attributes and the power you put in.
- Finesse shots now depend more on the player’s attributes, which makes them less of an all purpose long range shot than in earlier games.
The result: stats matter more from distance, and the power shot and trivela are the go to options.
